Stay At Home – with Eaton Home Care

Eaton Home Care is a well-established private care business in Cambridge, looking after dementia clients throughout Cambridgeshire and North Hertfordshire.

As you would expect, our standards are as high as yours. Therefore, as an independent company, we offer a strong difference in a competitive sector:

As a dedicated private home care business, we’re proud to offer a higher level of continuity of care versus other organisations that may combine their local authority and private home care clients.

What does this mean? In simple terms, it helps to create a strong, long-term bond with those we look after. In our experience, this is something which has been proven to be highly beneficial to service user clients.

Above all, you deserve someone who comes instinctively to know you and your medical and care needs. And, more: what music you like, the food you prefer – and especially how you like your tea.

In fact, what we feel you don’t need is to be concerned about having to repeat your care routine time and time again with different people.

Through a bespoke programme created around you and your dementia journey, our goal is to help you maintain your independence and dignity. Likewise, to stay safe in your home for as long as you can.

We’ll take care of everything:

  • Visiting care and companionship
  • Personal care: help with bathing, dressing, toileting, and eating
  • Home services: support with shopping, housekeeping and meal preparation
  • Help with home mobility
  • Medication

Our Caring Commitment

We recognise that dementia is a difficult, distressing disease.

Let’s be honest, a diagnosis can be exceptionally stressful for everyone in the family. You deserve patience, compassion, respect and understanding, both now and in the months and years to come. Not least, gentle kindness.

Therefore, for our dementia clients, as with all those in our care, we make this promise:

To the very best of our abilities, we’ll strive every day to make you or your loved one’s life comfortable, contented and secure.

Dementia Care in Cambridge: Do You Recognise These Symptoms?

Dementia is more than just becoming forgetful and confused – although these are often its early signs.

Covering a range of symptoms, it affects brain function, which in turn impacts our thinking skills and, ultimately, our quality of life. Obviously, a medical diagnosis is essential, but it’s worth considering the following, and then taking action:

  • You may find that your Mum and/or Dad keeps forgetting the names of people, places, things or recent events.
  • Perhaps information takes longer to process, or decision-making has become difficult. Basic tasks, like making a hot drink, are confusing.
  • Following a conversation is tricky – they keep tuning out.
  • Hobbies and interests are slowly being abandoned.

Our care team fully understands the progress of dementia, and will adapt our care to our clients’ specific requirements.

What are the benefits of receiving dementia care?

Independence

Remaining at home, surrounded by familiar comforts, memories and photographs can help to make this transition easier, and it allows for family and friends to visit without regimented visiting hours. Your carer will adhere to your routine, and can accompany you to social events to help maintain as normal a life as possible.

Our carers are trained in dementia care and are Dementia Friends. We have regular talks scheduled with experts such as the Alzheimer’s Society to continue the education process and we also support Dementia Friends across a wide range of initiatives.

All Eaton home carers are required to have a minimum of 12 months care experience, undertake an enhanced DBS check regularly and attend a minimum of bimonthly supervisions along with an annual appraisal.
