Similar to Eaton Home Care’s guiding principles, these much-needed services support older or disabled people in their own homes. In essence, they help you or your loved one live there safely and independently for as long as you can.
As you can imagine, we’re delighted to endorse them.
In a nutshell, your Age UK handyman will do those smaller yet often tricky, awkward or perhaps even unsafe jobs around the house that you’d rather not do yourself. In other words, practical help with practical jobs to make your life easier.
To be fair, almost anything,. But, if we’ve missed something, do check with your local provider as there are too many things to mention.
Minor repairs: fixing and fitting door handles, changing lightbulbs, repairing a cupboard door, your fence, garden gate, installing a shower rail, clearing gutters, putting up a washing line etc. And, much more.
Making your home safe: putting in a smoke alarm, carbon monoxide and heat monitors, grab rails etc.
Home security: fitting a video doorbell, window and door locks and chains, plus door viewers.
Energy efficiency checks: fitting draft excluders, radiator heat reflectors and energy-efficient lightbulbs.
Practical work: hanging picture rails, pictures, putting up shelves, fitting curtain poles and tracks.
Help to move furniture further to a hospital discharge. It’s easy: just ask your hospital professional to contact us on your behalf.
Age UK employs Disabled Living Foundation assessors to train and complete assessments on the person who visits you, tools in hand to fix whatever you need fixing, checking, fitting, hanging…and so on. So, you’ll have the peace of mind you need to know that they’ll do a great job.
